The Complex Sentence
I want to add EXTRA INFORMATION to my MAIN IDEA.

Picture
Sometimes, I have a Main Idea that I want to tell you.

I also want to add some EXTRA INFORMATION to my Main Idea. In this situation, I need a Complex Sentence.

A Complex Sentence is made up of two parts: the Main Clause and the Supporting Clause. I can write the Main Clause first or the Supporting Clause first. It's up to me.

Remember! Complex doesn't mean difficult. It's just a name.

Use the two slideshows below to teach and learn about the Complex Sentence.
The Supporting Clause (Phrase or Dependent Clause)
